Dear Friends as all of we know that from the ancient time Ayurveda has been a part of our life, It is a pattern of life, which help us how to live a balance life. The content of our life, which include our food, our life style and vision of life, are part of Ayurveda.
However Ayurveda balance and make healthy not only body and mind as well as whole atmosphere, and today I will tell you about Ayurveda and dental treatment.
Since thousands of years, in India, Dental treatment has been given through Ayurveda. However in the contemporary period there are two separate streams Allopathy and Dentistry, but in Ayurveda a very elaborate style of dental treatment and supportive tissue has been described.
First of all we will discuss regarding a common disease of oral cavity. One of those is Periodontitis , also known as pyrrhoea. Pyrrhoea not only may cause cardiac problems but also pneumonia, low birth weight in newly born and diabetes etc. It may affect brain and kidney also. But one can prevent from these, for this special attention is required on oral hygiene, prefer fibrous diet and essentially tooth brush at night before going to sleep. In Ayurveda for its treatment Acharya Shurshuta has told that for each disease above the neck the require Nasya, Pratisaran and Gandusa treatment. For the nasya Trifladi ghrit will be required and its 5-7 drops in each nostrils three times a day for a week is required.
Along with this Bhadramustadi churna (Nagarmotha), should be applied locally twice a day. It is known as Pritasaran. For the Gandusa(Mouth wash), Nagradi Kwath should be used.
It is concluded from a study that Bhadramustadi paste application with a soft tooth brush along with Nagaradi Kwatha Gandusa is more effective than Bhadramustadi Curna Pratisarana and Nagaradi Kwatha Gandusa in the management of Shitada (Gingivitis) as well as this therapy is useful in removing and controlling plaque and calculus. Thus it is a better remedy for maintaining oral hygiene.Contd……….
